Meet The Team
Evan Hamel
Evan, the heart behind Van Hamel’s Pet Sitting, was raised with a lifelong passion for animals, surrounded by his own pets since childhood.
His journey began with aspirations of becoming a veterinarian and led to the now 16 years of pet sitting experience, where he discovered immense joy and fulfillment in animal care.
Today, Evan’s approach to pet care is a blend of compassion, expertise, and a firm commitment to animal well-being.
Beyond pet sitting, Evan is an outdoors enthusiast and gardener, with a keen interest in holistic practices for both humans and pets.
His personal life is enriched by his three dogs, Nala, Koda, and Ringo, who not only bring joy but also deepen his professional empathy and understanding towards animals. While Evan has just begun learning Spanish, he’s 100% fluent in Woof and Meow.
Anne
Meet Anne! After a fulfilling 30-year career in the corporate world, Anne decided to follow her lifelong passion for animals by joining our team as a pet sitter.
Anne has shared her home with Dobermans for most of her life. She’s known in her neighborhood for carrying treats on her walks, ready to make new furry friends wherever she goes.
Gerardo
Gerardo “Cruzer” is a retired U.S. Air Force officer with over 24 years of leadership and military intelligence experience. He earned a B.S. in International Affairs at the U.S. Air Force Academy and an M.A. at the University of Arizona. After retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel, his passion for animals led him to seek out work in pet care.
Cruzer is married with two adult daughters and is a lifelong pet owner. Outside of work, he enjoys traveling, backpacking, sailing, and listening to his extensive collection of music.

Evan is a dog whisperer! My Cattle Dogs are timid around strangers, especially men. The first time they met Evan they were relaxed and friendly! After a few days of walking them, they behaved better for him on leash than they do with me! Evan also suggested natural supplements to reduce scratching. Highly recommend!!!
